Summer Lapghan

I've had this afghan for a long time now which is  the longest WIP I've ever had. This was a project last summer by The Crochet Crowd community where they call it  Stitchcation Summer Challenge. I didn't finish it on time and instead of an afghan I have a lapghan. Not bad at all right? At least, I can close this chapter and move on to my next project. :)

Summer Lapghan
Materials: Red Heart Super Saver

If you have a work in progress that's been in that state for a long time now, let me give you a friendly advise. Pick up your hook and work on it again. There's no better feeling than to have this sense of fulfillment and  see your project come to life. You'll then realize why you started that project after all. :)

Summer Lapghan

Before I end this post, I would like to share this almost done WIP I've been working on for the last 2 months. Can you guess what it is? Talk to you soon dears. :)

Happy Crocheting  may we finish more crochet projects before 2015 ends. God bless you more!

The Butterfly (Written Pattern)

Hello Dears! Thank you for sending me your warm regards and taking the time to follow my blog & fb posts. You just made me feel so special. :) For the past weeks, I've been getting requests to write a pattern for this cute creature. So I guess it's the right time.

http://bluboxoflove.blogspot.com

I've written them down below and added some pics as well. I hope you like them. If you have any question, please drop me a message on my facebook page and I'll be happy to help. By the way here's the link to the graph pattern.

Materials:
No 8 Monaco Mercerized Cotton Thread (175m)
Crochet steel hook no 2 or 1.95 mm
Magnets 1.5 cm (optional)

Special stitches:
Beginning Shell: (ch3, 2dc, ch3, 3dc)
Shell: (3dc, ch3, 3dc)

Few Simple Tips:
Use 2 strands of crochet thread throughout the rounds.
Cut yarn after each round
On each beginning round, I usually tie the new thread on the last ch3-space of the previous round

Steps:

R1: Chain 12, slip st in first ch

http://bluboxoflove.blogspot.com

R2: Ch3, 2dc, ch3, (3dc, ch3) x 2, (dc, ch3, dc, ch3), (3dc, ch3) x 3, (dc, ch3, dc, ch3), slip st on beginning ch3.

http://bluboxoflove.blogspot.com

R3: Beg Shell on ch3 sp, 3 Shells on next ch3 spaces, skip ch3 sp, 4 shells on next ch3 spaces, slip st on beg chain.

http://bluboxoflove.blogspot.com

http://bluboxoflove.blogspot.com

R4: Beg Shell on ch3 sp, [*(ch1, dc on 3rd st, ch1)*, Shell] x 7 rep*to*, slip st on beg chain 3.

http://bluboxoflove.blogspot.com

Fold the motif in half (follow the broken line on the pic).

http://bluboxoflove.blogspot.com

For the Antenna: Using the color used on the last round, ch 20 with 2 strands held together. Tie the end of last chain. The excess thread on both ends is about half an inch. You may want to add magnets to help them stick on magnetic surface aka refrigerator. :)
I only used Elmer's All purpose glue, wait for it to settle a bit then put them on both wings.

Coco, the Yorkie

Hello Dears! It's been a long time since I dropped by and write a blog. I hope you are all doing well and happy with your life. :) Summer is almost here in Manila and each day is getting hotter. But who cares? This is the best time to go to the beach and have a good time with family and friends! Right? ;)

bluboxoflove.blogpot.com

Last month one of my close friend, Aby decided to work abroad and as a parting gift, I gave her something cute to keep her company. You are right, that is Coco, the Yorkie. Before she bought Bruno, she planned to have a Yorkie. But I guess everything really happens for a reason. :)

bluboxoflove.blogspot.com

The pattern originally came from a Japanese pattern. Thankfully, Crochet Parfait translated this to an English pattern which you can found here. I only use 1 type of yarn which is Red Heart Crochet & Hand knitting Yarn 120m in white, black & warm brown. Though the yarn is classified as size 4, this is a bit thinner and softer compared to Red Heart Super Saver, so I decided to use hook size 2.5 mm.

The pattern is very much easy to follow but if this is your first time to make an ami, I suggest you watch Amigurumi to go's video on how to attach the parts. Believe me, it is very helpful. ;) Plus, their ami's are cute and free!

Dears, I wish you all have a meaningful and happy Summer! God bless and Happy Crocheting!

Love,
Jho

Red Heart Yarn Reflective from CMB; 5.00 mm hook

One of my dream is to have my name printed on a shirt or sweater, like that of the coveted GAP trademark. :) Well thanks to Tamara Kelly of Moogly for making my dream come true. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7New International Version (NIV)

Graceful Shell Shawl

Last year, I plan of making crocheted gift as early as September. It was all plan out, yarns were ordered by mid August. I thought I had all the time in the world but I was wrong. I started crocheting them by October finished by August and planned to took pictures by December. The picture I was planning to make of this particular project would be beautiful and romantic as the sample picture on the pattern, but all I got was this picture..

Sorry for the blurred picture. I'll do better next time. :D I hope you can still see the beautiful color and stitches used. For the yarn, I used 2 Caron in Plum Perfect I ordered from Gantsilyo Guru(This yarn changes color to brown depending on the lighting :) ) The easy and beautiful free pattern is from Red heart called Graceful Shell Shawl created by Tammy Hildebrand. (Posted below)

Falling in love with Amis

Jolly Ele & Sleepy Pan
Jolly Ele & Sleepy Pan

Hello Dears! I hope you are all doing great! :) I've been very busy these past few months and totally neglected this blog. But pity me not because I never forgot my yarn and hook. :D In fact I tried something that I feared for a very long time until now. It's making Amigurumi!

If not because of a request of a client I wouldn't have tried it this year. Good thing I didn't gave in to that fear and bravely accepted the challenge! And now, I am totally in love with these cute creatures. Plus, I had a very friendly yarn to work with. :) With all the unraveling here and there, this Red Heart Super Saver didn't lose it's form resulting to a better looking ami (very far from what I expected!). I've added their solo pic below, included link to pattern and the store where I got the yarns.
